I think my kitty might be sick?

I just adopted a kitty and he seemed okay the first couple days but since yesterday afternoon keeps making this gesture like he needs to throw up a hairball but nothing happens like he's gagging on something or something...and he's not very enthusiastic today this has been going on for about a 18 hours and hes very quiet he's not rolling around on the floor like he usually does and he's sleeping alot.
