Giving a ferret olive oil?

You can give them a few drops of mineral oil (drug/pharmacy store), or use the hairball remedy for cats and kittens. Both work well, but the cat hairball treatment paste is flavored (meat, malt or fish flavored - my cats and rabbits actually like the taste of the malt flavored one best) so makes it easier for the ferret to take - mineral oil tastes awful.
