Hey I want to become this guy's friend..what do I need to do?

His name is Joey and he is a football player, my age but popular. I was a little weird back in the days in 8th grade but later he forgave me. Now I want to be his friend I IMed him once on facebook he responded and talked about current stuff. I saw him in snackbar and he talked to me for a few minutes i messaged him bout summer he then responded nicely but I dont want to bother him and now what? comment his photo on facebook please help I want to start being friends with him
